Organisers are now hard at work putting together plans for the event that is being held in partnership with Marco Pierre White.

Called The Great White Festival, it’s set to take place on 28 to 30 October with the town’s Royal Hall and exhibition centre being the main focal point for the various artisan stalls, masterclasses, cooking demonstrations and live Q&As.

Organiser Steve Moncrieff said: “We’re hugely excited to have launched what is going to be an amazing festival of food and drink.

“To have the backing of a gastronomic great like Marco gives The Great White Festival amazing kudos and we can’t wait to showcase everything the fabulous county of Yorkshire alongside the very best of Britain and Ireland has to offer."

Marco is one of the most influential British chefs of all time. He started his career at the Hotel St George in Harrogate so it’s great to bring him back to the place where it all began.

Yorkshire is one of the UK’s largest counties and is renowned for its food, Michelin starred chefs and restaurants. The Great White Food Festival will offer a unique opportunity to engage with a captive audience of food and drink lovers in a vibrant, fun and unique environment hosted by Marco Pierre White.

Alongside the 250 expected brands and producers, visitors will be able to enjoy the White Heat cooking school, the Yorkshire theatre where local chefs will showcase their skills, fabulous pairing experiences and the Marco Pierre White Show where guests can enjoy watching Marco create some fabulous food followed by a Q&A session.

“We’ve already got a number of headline sponsors lined up and will announce those in the next couple of weeks so it’s already catching the imagination of those involved in the hospitality and travel sector.

We now want food and drink producers from right across the area to get in touch so they too can be part of this fantastic new festival.”
